UEFA Euro 2012 qualifying competition starts this week with 23 matches spread all across the old continent. Among those beginning their qualifying bid are Euro & World champions Spain warming up against Liechtenstein, knowing that a perfect run can take them to becoming the first team to retain the Henri Delaunay Trophy. Netherlands, their final victim at the South African World Cup start in earnest with a double trip to San Marino and Finland and so does Germany, the UEFA European Under-21 Champions and one of the major forces in South Africa. France,
England and Italy, on the other hand, would like to put the World Cup experience behind them, and the Azzurri may have a good chance to impress in Estonia, who came minutes close from a major upset in their first match against Faroe Islands, won with two goals in injury time. The Three Lions open against Bulgaria and Switzerland, while Portugal hosts Cyprus in the curtain-raiser, warming up for Norway later next week.
