After splitting a home-and-home mini-series against Portland Trailblazers, Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors should end the year with an easy victory, as they take on division rivals Phoenix Suns, in Arizona.
Phoenix, despite having some really good players on their roster, are no way near making the playoffs. In fact, they are the only team in the whole Western Conference that has no chance to advance in the post-season. They clearly are more interested in a high draft position, especially if we consider the talent that the 2020 class is expected to offer, obviously, with Zion Williamson leading the pack. Still, Suns managed to pull off some impressive matches of late they won at Celtics, at Magic, and, recently, they almost made a huge comeback against Denver Nuggets. The Suns are 9-28 on the season, but over their last 10, they are 5-5. Also, the Suns are 2-3 at home, over their last 5, but lost the previous 2 matches here.
Golden State, winners of the last two titles and 3 of the last 4, has been very inconsistent, for their standards, this season. They lost on Christmas night, against the Lakers, who were without LeBron most of the way (groin injury suffered during the match), then lost in OT, at home, against Portland Trailblazers. 2 nights ago, they did manage to get back in the winning ways, on the road, against the same Portland Trailblazers, 115-105. Klay Thompson had a team-high 32 points, on a 4/5 shooting from distance. Kevin Durant added 25 points and 5 boards, while Stephen Curry contributed with 25 points, 8 assists, and 5 rebounds. Golden State seems to be doing fine on the road, having a 9-8 record, and a 4-1 record over their last 5 trips. One of these victories was against a top team when they managed to shut down Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks, in Wisconsin, 105-95. Golden State did a very good job defensively, as Giannis only managed to score 22 points, on an 8-13 shooting night, and 0-2 from downtown. It is obvious that the talent is there for the Warriors, but it is going to take a bit more until they are at full strength.
Phoenix Suns News
There are no unavailable players for the home side, here.
Golden State Warriors News
Jones and Cousins are the only players out, for the Warriors.
The two teams already played once this season, with the Warriors winning, at home 123-103. Last season, Warriors won the season series, 4-0.
There is no question about who is the better team here, it is only a matter of how large the winning margin will be for the Warriors. With all 3 of their scorers in a good form, our picks are:
Golden State -10.5 @ 1.92
Golden State over 119.5 @ 1.95
