- Sandefjord have won three of their last five games and are on a two-game winning streak.
- Valerenga IF Oslo have won one, drawn one and lost three of their last five games.
Sandefjord are seventh in the Eliteserien 2025 table with nine points from five games, two places and two points better off than Valerenga IF Oslo, who have seven points from six games. Both clubs have plenty to play for in this game and will want to make a statement as the league season enters its early stages. Hans Erik Oedegaard has been in charge of Sandefjord since May 18th, 2024 and has hit the ground running with a pair of consecutive wins. They beat Hamarkameratene 2-0 at home and then followed that up with a 1-0 win at Tromsoe. The Whites have been rock solid at home this season, scoring five and conceding none in two games and they will be looking to extend that run on Sunday. Valerenga have had a mixed bag of results in the last month, losing 0-2 at home to Rosenborg, then winning 2-0 away at Kristiansund BK and losing 2-4 at home to Brann. Geir Bakke has been in charge of Valerenga IF Oslo since July 2023 and has built a team that likes to play a possession-based game, but can struggle to break teams down, especially away from home.
The contrast in styles should make for an interesting game, but Valerenga’s composure on the ball could be tested by Sandefjord’s direct, counter-attacking style. Stefan Ingi Sigurdarson has been in great form for the hosts, scoring four of their last five goals and he will be the danger man on Sunday. Magnus Bech Riisnaes has been a spark for Valerenga in the middle of the park, scoring two of their last five goals and they will need him to perform at his best to get something from this game. Valerenga have had the better of Sandefjord in the Eliteserien in recent seasons, winning two of the last three, including a 2-1 away win last season. However, the hosts have been in great form since Oedegaard took charge and with home advantage, we’re backing them to edge this one. Sandefjord are +140 favourites to win the game, with Valerenga +190 and the draw +252. Given the hosts have won two of their two home games in the Eliteserien 2025, we think the odds are a little short for Sandefjord, but there is value to be had in Sandefjord over 1.5 goals.
