- League position: FC Dynamo Kiev are in fourth place in the Premier League, two points ahead of Kolos Kovalivka in fifth
- Head-to-head: In the last five head-to-head meetings between these two sides, each team has won one and there have been three draws
Dynamo Kiev’s style has evolved
New approach
Ihor Kostiuk took over FC Dynamo Kiev in November 2025 and has instilled a completely different approach to the 2025-2026 season than the club has been used to. He has implemented a very vertical, high-pressing 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 formation that aims to break compact blocks with aggressive transitions and full-backs providing the width of the attack.
Style contrast
It should be a fascinating contrast of styles on Wednesday between Dynamo Kiev and Kolos Kovalivka, as Ruslan Kostyshyn’s pragmatic set-up is far more structured and defensive than his counterpart. Kolos keep a low-to-mid block and look to defend in numbers, counterattack directly and use set-pieces as a weapon.
Kolos Kovalivka can keep it close
Kolos Kovalivka can certainly keep this close, despite Dynamo Kiev being the clear favourites for this game.
The visitors are in good form and come into this clash unbeaten in five, having won their last four. In their most recent away game they won 3-0 against FC Oleksandriya.
It will be interesting to see if Kostyshyn tries to park the bus in order to keep the match as close as possible, but Dynamo’s creativity and home advantage should be enough to win. Both teams have won one and drawn three of their last five encounters, but Kolos have not won in their previous two trips to the capital.

Goals are on the agenda
The odds for a home win are pretty low, as you would expect, so I am taking Dynamo to win and there to be three or more goals in the game, as Kolos will struggle to score. ‘Both Teams to Score - No’ is my main selection at 1.72 and I am also going for ‘Over 2.5 goals’ at 1.81.
Matviy Ponomarenko is Dynamo’s talisman and is top scorer for the season with 12 goals in 14 Premier League matches, scoring three times in the past five. Kolos can be dangerous on set-pieces and Ardit Tahiri has been particularly impressive in his playmaking role, notching three assists in the club’s last five games.
