Pep to leave City? Absolute scenes

Tactically, the biggest issue will be whether the next coach can preserve the same positional control and game management. Pep has made City almost impossible to play against when they settle into rhythm, and replacing that level of detail is harder than replacing any one player.

Imagine telling someone a few years back that Pep would leave City and Maresca would be the one stepping in, that sounds like one of those mad career mode saves where the board have lost the plot and yet here we are and everyone is pretending this was the plan all along, football really does write the strangest scripts

And of course the officials will somehow become the story again because whenever anything big happens with City the conversation ends up turning into a complete mess and people start acting like every decision for the rest of the season is some grand conspiracy, if Pep really is leaving then fair enough but the refereeing circus around this club has been ridiculous for ages and I am already dreading the way every whistle from now until May is going to be overanalysed to death by everyone pretending they are neutral when they clearly are not

If this happens, it will be one of the biggest managerial exits in modern Premier League football. City may still be strong, but losing Pep would clearly change the whole atmosphere around the club and the league.
