Villa have absolutely turned this into a highlight reel. Two worldies and it feels like Freiburg have been hit by the same goal twice, just from different angles.

The funny thing is the thread is already full of people calling it xG merchant football, but if you hit shots like that then who cares. This is the kind of night where everything looks effortless and the opposition just have to stand there and take it.

Feels like one of those European away performances that makes everyone sit up and say Villa mean business. Freiburg will be raging, but for everyone else it is pure entertainment.
 
Villa have just absolutely come out here and decided that defending is optional and goals are mandatory and honestly fair play because when you are hitting shots like that you can call it whatever you want xG merchants worldie merchants bangers only FC all of it and Freiburg just look like they have been dragged into a highlight compilation they did not sign up for and the worst part for them is it does not even look like Villa are forcing it they are just strolling into these moments and making it look easy
 
Buendia has been proper annoying for defenders here because every time he gets a look it feels like he is winding up for something outrageous and then it actually goes in and everyone has to shut up for a second I know people love the bangers only jokes but this one is exactly why he gets talked up when he is on it he can completely change the mood of a game and make a back line look stupid in one touch and Freiburg have basically let him do it to them
 
It is easy to reduce this to just “bangers only,” but Villa are also showing real composure in the final third. Freiburg are being punished for every lapse, and once the first one goes in like that the whole match starts to tilt. It feels more controlled than chaotic.
 
People keep acting like Freiburg have just rolled over and died when really Villa have been ruthless and clinical and that is a huge difference because there is a reason the ball is flying in the way it is and it is not because Freiburg are suddenly the worst team on earth they have been caught by quality shots and a side that looks completely confident in what it is doing and the whole xG merchant thing is such a lazy way of talking about a team that is actually taking its chances instead of fluffing them and yeah maybe the defending is not perfect but you still have to put the thing in the top corner and they have done it twice so far
 
The key here is how quickly Villa are turning half-chances into shots. Freiburg cannot settle into any defensive rhythm because the quality of the strike is forcing them to reset constantly. When a side is that decisive, the game can get away from you very quickly.
 
I cant even lie im buzzing for them because it just feels like one of those nights where everything is landing and the away end must be loving every second of it and Freiburg look proper shell shocked and its making the whole thing feel even louder and more ridiculous
 
Villa are being efficient in a way that makes the scoreline look harsher than the performance might suggest. Freiburg have had moments, but the finishing has been at a completely different level and that is usually the difference in Europe.
