Ronaldo lifting the SPL trophy with the team has got everyone talking, and not just because of the shiny silverware. The whole thing has a weird vibe to it, from the celebrations to the constant phone cameras in everyone’s hands.

Some people are laughing at how staged it feels, others are saying it’s pure Ronaldo being Ronaldo, and a few are just baffled by the whole presentation. Either way, it’s proper internet football discourse again, and the reactions are all over the place.

What do you make of it: iconic, cringey, or just another day in modern football?

Honestly the whole thing just looks so odd to me because youve got this massive trophy lift and half the lads are filming it on their phones instead of actually taking it in and then Ronaldo is doing his own thing like the rest of the team are just background extras, its all very modern football in the worst way, feels like everyone is trying to create a clip rather than enjoy a moment and the shiny trophy and the weird gestures just make it even more surreal

I actually think the strangest part is how little anyone seems to know what he is trying to say with the gestures and the face he is pulling, because it looks like he wants the moment to be huge but it comes off really detached and almost robotic. Then you see everybody else recording on their phones and it just adds to the whole bizarre atmosphere, like nobody is really living it, they are all just packaging it for later, and somehow that makes the whole celebration feel colder and colder and more fake as it goes on

The camera-phone stuff is a bit daft, but it is also pretty much how these moments get shared now. Ronaldo still understands the spectacle better than most, and that is probably why it stands out so much. The trophy itself looks ridiculous as well, in a good way.

Nah the bloke screaming into his phone was the funniest part for me, proper taking the piss out of the whole thing because everyone is acting like theyre in a documentary instead of a trophy lift, and Ronaldo just standing there with that face like hes in his own world makes it even weirder

I cant even lie I was watching it and thinking what on earth am I looking at, the phones everywhere, the faces, the shiny trophy, all of it just felt off in a way that made me laugh out loud and then feel a bit bad because he clearly thinks this is massive and maybe it is, but it still looked proper bizarre to me

Ronaldo gets dragged for everything now but if we are being honest the man is still out there at 41 playing professional football and lifting trophies while half the internet is sat at home calling him finished like they have not been finished for years themselves, and yes the celebration looks strange and yes the face pulling is a bit much but that is exactly why he has stayed such a big figure for so long because he treats every moment like it has to be bigger than life, people laugh at it but they are still watching every second and losing their minds over it which says more about them than him, if you ask me the whole thing is just another example of him living rent free in everybody's heads and I am not even a fan but the obsession is mad

It is both funny and very on brand for him. The whole thing feels a bit overproduced, but that is modern football for you.

The officials would have loved this one as well no doubt, probably stood there soaking up the whole circus while everyone else is trying to work out what the hell is going on with the faces and the phone cameras and the trophy presentation, because that is the other part of it nobody talks about, the whole event looks like it has been polished to death and every person involved is desperate to be seen, even the lads just standing around with their phones up like they are filming a fireworks display, absolutely mental
