Arsenal finally lift the Premier League trophy

i remember being in the pub with a mate who supports arsenal and every time the process jokes came up he would just stare into his pint like it was personal and tonight i can imagine him losing it completely because this is exactly the sort of thing football does to people it drags you through years of winding each other up and then suddenly you are hugging strangers over a trophy lift and pretending you didnt care that much when really you cared the whole time and now every arsenal fan in the country is probably texting in all caps and i love that for them
 
nah i dont buy the idea that it was all some masterplan from day one because there were plenty of times it looked rough and people were right to question it but now everyone wants to rewrite the whole story like it was obvious
 
Credit where it is due, the club clearly committed to a long-term rebuild and did not panic every time the noise got loud. That is the sensible point here and people should probably remember it when they start demanding instant success from every manager. Still, I cannot get over how ridiculous football discourse is because the same people who spent years calling Arsenal a meme are now suddenly experts on why the project worked, and I swear half of them would have been screaming for the manager to be sacked after one bad month. It is all so performative and weird and that is before you even get to the trophy ceremony itself, which always turns into a debate about cameras, broadcasters and who is allowed to feel emotional about something they spent all season watching
 
People will still try to make this sound like Arsenal somehow stumbled into it but that is bollocks they built a squad, they stuck with the manager, and they kept showing up even when everyone was laughing at them, and that matters, because the easy thing in football is to call a team bottlers when they fall short, but the harder truth is that most clubs never even get close enough to be mocked like this in the first place, and now everyone is acting like the wait means nothing, well it does mean something, it means the fans went through years of stick and still kept going, it means the players had pressure on every week, and it means the club finally turned the corner instead of folding like some tinpot outfit
 
The officials have somehow managed to make a trophy celebration feel annoying which is impressive in its own awful way because the focus should be on Arsenal and the fans but instead there is always some broadcast nonsense or some little decision or some camera cut that makes it all feel stitched together badly and it just takes the shine off what should be a proper moment, football coverage in this country is so obsessed with itself that even when a club finally wins after years of waiting you still end up getting irritated by the people around the game rather than the game itself and it does my head in
 
fair play to arsenal i suppose but the amount of people who suddenly become sentimental when a big club wins something is mad because half of them were dying to call them a banter club last season and now its all tears and respect and beautiful football and process this and process that and it just shows how fake football chat can be sometimes because everyone wants to be seen as classy after the fact instead of just admitting they enjoyed the chaos while it lasted and i dont even blame arsenal fans for celebrating like mad because if youve waited that long you should enjoy every second of it
 
honestly i wasnt even expecting to care this much but once the lift happened i was fully locked in and grinning like an idiot because the whole thing felt massive after so many years of jokes and stick and all the trust the process stuff, you just dont get moments like that very often
 
Arsenal have clearly earned a lot of respect for sticking with the same direction and not panicking at every setback. Still, some people are going way over the top like this erases every criticism that was ever fair, so it is probably best to enjoy the moment without rewriting history tbh
 
i cant lie seeing them lift it after all the memes is class and fair play to the fans who stuck with it because thats a long wait and a lot of stick to take and now its all come good so you cant really argue with that
