Bernardo Silva catches Pep talking to nobody

That clip is proper Pep, isn’t it. Bernardo Silva looking at him like he’s just caught the gaffer mid-conversation with thin air is absolutely hilarious.

The best bit is how everyone immediately starts trying to work out who he was actually talking to, or whether he was just in one of those Pep moods where the brain is moving faster than the rest of him. Either way, it is peak football banter.

City really do provide these little surreal moments every so often and you can’t help but laugh at them, even if you’re not a fan. It’s the kind of thing that makes him feel like a proper character rather than just another manager.

i was in the pub the other night and the lads were arguing over whether pep was actually talking to someone or just doing his usual mad scientist thing and honestly it reminded me of my uncle at the wedding when he starts chatting to the empty chair like the bloke is still there, proper weird but everyone just goes along with it because its pep and somehow it becomes genius anyway

Pep is just on another planet honestly and thats why people love watching him even when he looks completely unhinged because one minute hes orchestrating everything like a genius and the next hes chatting away to absolutely no one like hes in his own private cinema and Bernardo is stood there thinking what the hell is this man doing and i swear every clip of him on the bench feels like some bizarre art piece that only he understands and everyone else is just pretending along because hes won enough to earn that right

i swear these little pep clips are half the reason city are so entertaining to watch from the outside because every week theres some weird bench moment or mad stare or random hand gesture and you just know the man is never fully switched off even when the game is dead calm

The thing with Pep is that the football brain is obviously elite, the preparation is obviously elite, and then every now and again he does something that makes him look like he has not slept in three days and is arguing with the air itself. It should be impossible to be that successful and that odd at the same time, but here we are. The clip is funny because Bernardo is so normal in it as well, like he is the straight man in a sketch while Pep is somewhere else entirely, and honestly that is the exact kind of chaos that makes him such a legend to neutrals and such a nightmare to everyone else because how do you even prepare for a manager who might be coaching, joking, or talking to a ghost all within the same minute

honestly this is why people love pep he just looks like hes got 17 thoughts going at once and one of them is always a bit mad, bernardo probably didnt even blink because hes used to it by now and the rest of us are just sat there trying to work out if he was talking to a coach or the void

It is funny, but it also shows how much detail Pep expects from everyone around him. Even on the bench he seems to be processing the game constantly, which is probably why his teams look so organised. The chaos is part of the package, and that package has worked for a long time.

It feels like Pep can turn a touchline into theatre without even trying, and Bernardo just happened to catch him mid performance, tbh

Could be a simple case of him speaking to staff and the angle making it look stranger than it was but even then Pep always seems like hes on a different frequency from everyone else and thats probably why his squads look so drilled and so weirdly chaotic at the same time
