Arteta wins Manager of the Season

Mikel Arteta has landed the Premier League Manager of the Season award, and I do not think anyone can be too shocked at that. Ending Arsenal’s 22-year wait for the title is always going to carry huge weight, even if plenty of people felt there were other strong shouts this year.

The debate seems to be whether this is a fair reward for the actual season, or more of a nod to the bigger rebuild and the pressure he has handled over several years. There are arguments for Le Bris, Tudor, Andrews and a few others, but a league-winning manager usually gets the final word.

Either way, it has clearly split opinion a bit. Some will say deserved, some will say robbed, and some will just be enjoying the meltdown.
 
Hard to argue with the manager who got the job done and ended the drought. That said, Le Bris had a massive case too, so this feels more like a close call than a runaway win.
 
From a tactical point of view, Arteta gets extra credit for the defensive numbers and keeping standards high across the season. But Le Bris and Andrews both had clearer overachievement narratives, so I can see why people are split.
 
Went down the pub last night and the whole place was arguing about this like it was a cup final, one lad was saying Arteta deserves everything because he finally got Arsenal over the line and another was proper losing it saying Le Bris did the miracle job and should have got the nod, then some bloke in the corner just kept saying Tudor robbed over and over like a broken record, honestly it was one of those nights where you realise football awards just turn everyone into a gobshite and nobody can agree on anything even when half of them are basically saying the same thing in different ways
 
i cant lie i thought they might go with someone else but once you remember arsenal actually won the league it kinda makes sense and now everyone is acting like it was obvious from day one which is hilarious ngl
 
the clean sheets and low goals conceded probably swung it as much as the title itself and thats fair enough, but if you were judging pure overachievement then le bris and andrews had stronger cases imo
 
the amount of people now pretending they always said arteta was nailed on is absolutely hilarious, proper football twitter behaviour from half this thread honestly
 
It is hard not to respect it when a manager takes that kind of pressure and still delivers the title, and Arsenal have clearly been built into a proper machine over time. But at the same time I keep coming back to Le Bris because what he did felt like pure wizardry and I dont think people should brush that off just because Arsenal are the bigger club and won the league. There is always this thing where once a result happens everyone rewrites the whole season and suddenly the award feels obvious, which is bollocks, because before the season loads of people were still doubting Arsenal and talking about them like they would bottle it again, so fair play to Arteta but I get why people are fuming
 
I can see both sides here, because Arteta has finally turned all the pressure into a title and that matters. But Le Bris and Andrews both had really strong claims too, so it is not like anyone is being wildly robbed imo
