Guessand’s weird bit of history

I get why everyone is laughing at the Arsenal angle and the cup tied angle and all that but the more I think about it the more I just think football is completely mental because you can have a player end up with a stat like this and half the replies are acting like it is impossible while the other half are just using it as an excuse to take the piss out of a club that has nothing to do with it and honestly that is the exact sort of thing that makes these threads entertaining, not the actual medals, not the actual competition names, just the fact that people can turn one bizarre headline into a whole argument about history, legitimacy, transfers, and whether the player should now be signed by Arsenal before Saturday which is obviously ridiculous but also exactly what this place does every single time
 
I dont get why people are acting like this is some kind of fraud the lad still ended up in the record book and that is the point, if you want to argue about rules then fine but it does not suddenly make the stat meaningless
 
At a basic level, this is the sort of football stat that works because it is so specific it almost sounds made up, and that is why it has travelled so well. The Arsenal jokes, the cup tied questions, the comparisons to other weird seasons, all of that is just part of the entertainment. But then you look at how quickly people reduce it to a meme and you remember how online football chat works now, everyone wants the funniest line first and the actual context second, which is fine until it turns into people pretending they are experts on a situation they only just heard about, and then the whole thing becomes a bit of a circus, and honestly it does my head in sometimes because a genuinely mad bit of history gets flattened into noise
