I know people are laughing at the idea of Norway winning it all but that is exactly why this is so fun, because nobody outside of their fans is supposed to take it seriously and yet here we are with everyone piling in on the joke and saying Haaland is going to do the impossible, and honestly why not, football is full of these mad little runs and underdog stories and it would be brilliant to see a team like that actually go all the way, people always say the same old giants should win everything and then complain when the game gets boring, well this would not be boring at all so let the dream live

I get why everyone is laughing at this because it is ridiculous on the face of it, but that is exactly why it works and why people are latching on to Norway so hard, because the idea of a nation like that suddenly being handed the whole tournament by some bizarre chain of results is the kind of football nonsense that makes you grin, then think about it, then start believing it for no reason at all, and if Haaland actually ends up anywhere near the trophy the internet is going to lose its mind completely and honestly I might join in because this is too funny to ignore

At first glance it is just a harmless coincidence and that is fair enough, because the World Cup does produce these odd little chains and people love a pattern, but the more you look at it the more ridiculous it becomes that everyone is suddenly pretending Norway are some kind of chosen one because of a bracket stat and a mirrored flag, and now the whole thing has become a Haaland prophecy thread which is exactly how football internet loses the run of itself, and I am absolutely not above enjoying the chaos even while saying it means nothing
