Viborg FF vs AaB Aalborg Best odds and tips

Viborg FF will be a big favourite at 1.80 to beat AaB Aalborg in Sunday’s Superliga 2024-2025 match, which is just about right considering the visitors are 4.00 outsiders. The bookmakers are obviously confident that the hosts can get the better of Aalborg, but we feel Viborg are more likely to win. The form of both teams has been poor of late, but Viborg have been particularly unconvincing in their last two games, falling 0-1 at home to FC Copenhagen and then taking a 0-0 draw at Lyngby BK. AaB’s last three Superliga matches have seen them lose back-to-back home games to Soenderjyske Fodbold and Vejle Boldklub, before a 2-2 draw at Soenderjyske in their last fixture. Jakob Poulsen has done a good job since taking over as Viborg FF head coach in November 2023, bringing structure and discipline to a team that can be solid in defence and well organised in their build-up play. Poulsen’s team are a compact side, usually set up in either a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1, and they press with measured tempo. AaB are a much more high-tempo team, pressing forward and pressing the ball when out of possession, with head coach Kristoffer Wichmann having made his mark on the club since taking over in April 2025. Aalborg are a more attack-minded side, playing a 4-3-3 formation and looking to get at their opponents with quick transitions.

These two sides are very different in terms of their playing style and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top in what will be a chess match of sorts. Viborg have won three of the last four head-to-head showdowns at home and have won five of the last eight in all competitions (AaB Aalborg two, one draw). Viborg have conceded 23 goals in their 14 home Superliga matches, which is a concern, but AaB Aalborg have shipped 27 in the same number of away fixtures. Both teams have been out of form up front recently, but Yonis Njoh is Viborg’s danger man with four Superliga goals in six appearances this season, while Kasper Joergensen is AaB Aalborg’s main man with two goals in his last seven appearances. With both teams out of form, we’re not expecting a high-scoring game here and think Viborg’s extra discipline and home advantage should be enough to edge AaB Aalborg, who have taken only one point from their last two away matches.
