SC Heerenveen have been in decent form in the Eredivisie of late, winning three of their last five games and losing the other two. However, their last three home games against Feyenoord have yielded no wins for Heerenveen, so they could struggle in this encounter. Heerenveen currently sit in eighth place in the Eredivisie 2024-2025 table, having picked up 40 points from 32 games. This is a solid but unspectacular season for the hosts, who will hope that Robin Veldman can steady the ship after taking over as head coach in March 2025. Feyenoord Rotterdam currently sit in third place in the Eredivisie 2024-2025 table with 65 points from 32 games, and have been in fine form of late, winning four of their last five games and losing once. Robin van Persie, at the helm of Feyenoord since February 2025, has imposed a proactive style that's reinvigorated their attack.
Heerenveen are a well organised, balanced team who don’t press too much but can counter attack quickly when needed. At home, they have been particularly solid this season, winning nine, drawing six and losing just one of their 16 Eredivisie games to date. Feyenoord are a different proposition altogether, playing a 4-3-3 system, pressing high up the pitch and looking to break quickly. This should be a chess match, with Feyenoord looking to press Heerenveen into submission and Heerenveen looking to stay compact and counter. Feyenoord have conceded just 1.12 goals per game on their travels in the Eredivisie this campaign, so they are a disciplined team on the road. Heerenveen have scored an average of 1.75 goals per home game in the Eredivisie this season, conceding just 0.94 per game, so they should be able to keep things tight at the back on Sunday.
Feyenoord are the clear favourites for this game at 2.25, but Heerenveen are available at 3.20 and the draw at 3.30. Given that Feyenoord have dominated this fixture in recent head-to-head meetings and have been in red-hot form on the road, I’m going for the away win. Heerenveen are a solid side at home though, so they should be able to keep things close. Feyenoord have won nine, drawn five and lost just two of their 16 away Eredivisie games this season, so they are a consistent team on the road. Igor Paixao is Feyenoord’s top scorer this season, netting 15 Eredivisie goals in 32 appearances. He is a clinical finisher and will be a handful for the Heerenveen defence on Sunday. Ion Nicolaescu is Heerenveen’s talisman, netting eight Eredivisie goals in 23 appearances. He has scored three of Heerenveen’s last seven goals, so he looks a good anytime goalscorer bet this weekend. Given Feyenoord’s superior attacking quality, the over 2.5 goals market could be of interest to some, but I’m going for the away win.
