Motor Lublin currently occupy eighth place in the Ekstraklasa 2024/2025 table with 43 points from 30 matches, while Piast Gliwice are in 11th with 39 points from 31 games – four points fewer and one game more played than Motor. Mateusz Stolarski has been in charge of Motor Lublin since March 2024 and has brought a bolder, attacking mindset with flexible formations. Samuel Mraz is Motor’s danger man with 13 goals in 30 league games this season and is always the focal point of their attacking play. Rafael Lopes provides directness and relentless running from midfield, supporting Mraz with driving runs and short-range creativity. Piast Gliwice are a very different proposition to Motor, with Aleksandar Vukovic in charge since October 2022. He has instilled a sense of defensive stability and pragmatism to the club that frustrates teams who like to play open, attacking football. Jorge Felix is Piast’s top scorer with seven goals in 22 Ekstraklasa games and is their biggest threat on the break or from set pieces. Patryk Dziczek is the tenacious and tactically-disciplined midfield anchor that keeps the structure in place for Piast to defend deep and soak up pressure before hitting on the break.
Motor Lublin have the psychological edge over Piast Gliwice after beating them 3-2 away in the Ekstraklasa six months ago, but this will be a much tougher game with Piast now under the guidance of Vukovic. Motor have been in good form lately, but not quite at home where they have won one and lost two of their last three. Piast have been winless in their last two, with one draw and one defeat, and they have been poor travellers this season with only five wins from 15 attempts. This will be a chess match between two different styles with Motor Lublin pushing forward and Piast Gliwice looking to pounce on mistakes. The bookies have this as a tight game with Motor as marginal favourites at 2.74, while Piast are 2.79 and the draw 3.25. Motor have the home advantage and will be keen to keep Piast at bay, so the ‘Motor Lublin or Draw (1X)’ market at 1.45 looks a good play here. Frantisek Plach is an excellent keeper who has kept Piast in games away from home when they have been under pressure, but they have only scored 0.93 goals per game on their travels, scoring 14 in 15 trips. Motor have conceded 22 goals in 15 home matches this season, which is an average of 1.47 per game in front of their own fans. Kochalski has pulled off some brilliant saves to keep them in games, but this one could go either way with a home win by a single goal our preference.
