- United edged Nashville SC 4-3 away in MLS 2024, but the home side are a different beast now.
Nashville SC are unbeaten at home in the MLS this season (W5, D1) and have been in red-hot form since BJ Callaghan took over as head coach. The Boys in Gold have won their last three home games in all competitions, keeping two clean sheets in the process, and are a very different proposition to the team that D.C. United beat 4-3 in the same fixture in MLS 2024. The hosts are 1.50 to extend their unbeaten home record on Sunday, with the visitors 6.50 outsiders for the win, which looks a little bit too short and a little bit too long respectively. D.C. United have won three of their last five in all competitions, but have also lost two, while Nashville SC have won three, drawn one and lost just one of their last five. The home side are the clear favourites here and with D.C. United’s away form still a major issue, it is difficult to see them getting anything from this game.
D.C. United boss Troy Lesesne is a capable coach and his side are capable of pulling off a surprise result, but they have been better on their travels this season, winning one, drawing one and losing four of their six away games. Nashville SC are a different team to the one that D.C. United beat last season and are a lot more ruthless in front of goal, particularly at home. They have scored 17 goals in six home games in the MLS, which is an average of almost three per game. Sam Surridge is their main goal threat in MLS 2025 with six goals in 12 appearances, but he has four of their last 11 and looks a good bet to score at any time on Sunday. Andy Najar is the creative hub of this team, pulling the strings from defensive midfield and providing four assists in their last five games.
Christian Benteke remains the talisman for D.C. United with six goals in 11 MLS appearances this season, but Peglow has been their in-form player of late with two of their last four goals. D.C. United have managed just six goals in six away games in MLS 2025, which is why they will be hard-pressed to stop Nashville’s free-scoring attack. Nashville SC average 2.5 goals per game at home to D.C. United’s 2.0 on the road and that suggests a goal fest could be on the cards, so the ‘Over 2.5 goals’ market looks like the best value play. The last four head-to-head meetings have been close affairs with D.C. United winning two, Nashville SC one and a draw apiece, but with Nashville so strong at home this season, the home side are expected to extend their unbeaten run and beat a D.C. United side that have been lacking in the final third.
