Free agents this summer are actually stacked

I was in the pub the other night and one of the lads was saying he would take Salah on a free anywhere in the world and another bloke was arguing that the only thing that matters is whether the player still has legs left and honestly that felt like the most football conversation ever because by the end of it everyone was just naming random clubs and laughing about who would bottle the wages and who would actually make it work and now I am sat here looking at this list thinking the same thing all over again
 
There are definitely some useful players here, but the injury record on a few of them is the real issue. Clubs will need to be careful.
 
people keep saying this is a goldmine but a lot of these lads are only free because clubs dont want to be stuck with the risk and thats the bit everyone ignores when they start talking about bargain signings and smart recruitment
 
On paper this is the kind of list that gets supporters excited because it looks like you can patch half your squad with experienced names and no fee, but the reality is that most clubs are not just choosing between quality and price, they are choosing between availability, wages, age, resale and whether the player actually fits the system. That is why some of these names will feel like obvious wins and others will end up being endlessly discussed without ever moving anywhere. And then you get the supporters who act like every free agent is a genius move if the name is big enough, which is exactly how clubs get dragged into paying ridiculous terms for players who are already on the decline and then everybody pretends it was good business because the transfer fee was zero, absolute madness
 
People are acting like this is just a list of washed veterans but that is not really fair because some of these players are still clearly good enough to help the right team if they are used properly and not thrown into a bad setup with no protection, and the whole point of a free transfer is that you are trying to solve a problem without spending a fee so of course you are going to be looking at experience and proven level as much as age, and honestly the way fans write off anyone over a certain age is ridiculous because not every team needs another project player with potential, some sides need someone who can come in and do a job now and that is exactly what a few of these lads can still offer
