England 4-2 Croatia - Rashford seals it

Ive been sat here losing my mind because England games usually just drain the life out of me but this one actually had me up off the sofa and shouting at the telly like a nutter the whole thing felt alive and Rashford finishing it off was just perfect

saka half fit and still tearing them apart its mad how people were writing him off after one quiet spell

Was in the pub for this and the place just erupted when that goal went in proper noise everywhere pint nearly went over the table because everyone was jumping at once and some old bloke near me started shouting about free school dinners and then another lad was singing about rashford like he was a club legend and honestly you had to be there because the whole thing felt like one of those nights where nobody wants to leave even when the game is done and the staff are giving you looks because everyone is just buzzing and talking rubbish and saying this is the best england have looked in years

England finally looked like they were playing with freedom and it made a huge difference. The movement was sharper, the pace was there, and Croatia just couldnt cope once the game opened up, but honestly if this team goes back to being conservative after showing this then it will be so frustrating because the quality is clearly there and you can feel the crowd wanting more every time they break forward

The key factor was the tempo after the changes. England looked far more dangerous once the game became stretched, and Croatia never recovered their defensive structure. That does not make England perfect, but it does show how much the right substitutions can change a match.

I think both things can be true here: England were excellent going forward, and Croatia were unusually open at the back. It was still a brilliant watch, just maybe not the perfect proof of anything long term.

I swear every time this lad gets a bit of space people start acting like he has turned into prime anything and its ridiculous because half the time he has been anonymous and then suddenly one nice moment and everyone is on about Barca and legends and all that nonsense like calm down the defending was all over the place and he was just the one who had the easiest bit of the night to finish off and now the internet is losing its mind again

The real story for me is how much the subs changed the tone of the game and how much more direct England became once they stopped playing so safe tbh

England benefitted from the game becoming stretched, which suited their pace and movement. Croatia struggled to keep their shape once the transitions started, and that is where the match was won.

People are acting like Croatia just rolled over and thats not fair at all because they were in a proper scrap and still trying to play football while England had all the momentum and all the bounces and all the noise behind them and yet Croatia kept going and kept making it awkward and if your defence looks exposed in that sort of game it happens but it does not mean they are suddenly some joke side or whatever the match was just one of those mad open games where one moment changes everything and the narrative goes crazy

Honestly the way people are going on about this is wild because England have one good attacking spell and suddenly everyone is talking like the whole tournament has been solved and Croatia are finished and Saka is some kind of mythological figure and Rashford has been reborn and Hendo is apparently a tactical genius for existing in the right place and I get it it was fun and the goals were lovely but lets not pretend the defending from both sides wasnt basically a free trial of chaos
