Americas vs Europe at the World Cup

There is a tactical angle here too. American sides in knockout games often make it uncomfortable for European teams by keeping the game messy and denying rhythm, which is usually enough to swing a tight tie. That does not mean one side is better overall, just that style clashes matter a lot in tournaments.

people in here acting like theyve uncovered the secrets of football because a graphic says europe got turned over a few times and now its all continental pride and hurt feelings when really its just the usual world cup nonsense and someone will still be in the comments calling it a tax league no ending punctuation

And of course the officials would get dragged into this sooner or later because every World Cup thread ends up there, but the reality is these games are decided long before people start screaming about the ref and yet somehow every single bad result gets turned into a conspiracy where one decision apparently explains the whole tournament and I am sick of it because you can watch the same match as everyone else and still have people insisting the man in black robbed them when really their team just did not do enough and now we are here with another stat thread being used as fuel for that same old nonsense

It starts as a harmless stat and then you realise everyone in the replies is basically talking themselves into a full blown panic or celebration depending on which badge they care about. I get it though, World Cup knockouts do that to people, one minute youre calm and the next youre begging Brazil to save the entire conversation because nobody wants to be the one left explaining why their side got knocked out again and honestly thats football and its maddening and brilliant all at once
