Argentina FA under FBI investigation

People will laugh because its football and everyone loves a corruption story but if the FBI are actually involved then this is not some silly little tabloid headline, this is a serious allegation and it says a lot about how rotten things can get in the background while everyone is focused on the pitch, and the thing that annoys me most is how these organisations always seem to have layers and layers of people who can point at someone else and say it wasnt me, and then the whole thing disappears into meetings and statements and nobody proper gets punished and the fans are left taking the piss out of it because what else can you do when the people in charge treat the whole sport like their own private club
 
If there is even a shred of truth to this then the whole lot should be dragged into daylight because football authorities love acting shocked when the money side of the game gets messy but somehow the mess always seems to benefit the people at the top, and I swear the officials and administrators always get the softest treatment imaginable, a few statements, a few denials, then everyone moves on like nothing happened while the fans are expected to just accept it, its pathetic and the sport is rotten if this sort of thing can happen around something as massive as the World Cup and still be treated like background noise
 
laughing at the idea this is anything new honestly the whole thing reeks from top to bottom and everyone acts surprised every single time
 
The measured point here is that if there is an actual investigation, the process matters more than the noise around it and nobody should be pretending guilt before evidence is public. But football being football, the conversation will immediately turn into memes about corruption and the domestic league, and fair enough really because the reputation of the place is already doing all the heavy lifting for the joke before any verdict has even landed, which is probably the saddest bit of all because the sport deserves better than endless admin scandals and people shrugging it off as normal
 
If this is real, it is a serious reputational hit for the association and for anyone connected to it. The bigger issue is that football bodies often survive scandals by outlasting the news cycle rather than fixing the underlying problems.
 
nah i dont buy the whole its just football politics thing because if the reports are accurate this is way bigger than people are making out and the federation should be under massive pressure right now not brushed off with a few jokes and some banter
