Arthur Melo finally leaves Juventus

I actually want to defend Juventus a little here because everyone is acting like they kept a useless player around for no reason when the reality is the whole market around him was probably awkward and they were trying to protect themselves as long as possible, and maybe that sounds like excuses but clubs do this all the time and fans only notice when the final bill arrives, the player was never the superstar people hoped for but he was also not the cartoon villain people are making him out to be, sometimes a transfer just does not click and both sides end up trapped in a messy compromise until someone finally blinks, and now that it is over everyone will pretend they saw it coming and pile on Juventus like they personally signed the paperwork themselves

I dont really agree with the idea that this is the worst move in club history, that feels way over the top when it is basically a failed transfer and a costly exit, bad yes but not some apocalypse for the entire club

At the start, you can at least understand why people were excited about him because the idea of a midfielder with that sort of reputation sounded useful, but the reality at Juventus seems to have been nowhere near that promise and the club ended up carrying a pointless burden for far too long. What makes it worse is that the whole story is now reduced to jokes about not even realising he was still there, which is funny until you remember there was actual money attached to it. Then it turns into one of those club decisions that just leaves you staring at the screen thinking how on earth did this get so bad and why did nobody stop it sooner because it is honestly ridiculous

The termination makes sense if the club wanted certainty over dragging the contract out any longer. The real damage was done by the original deal, not this final step.

honestly this is one of those football stories that just sums up how stupid the whole business can be because everyone knew the swap was weird and everyone could see it was not going to age well and yet juve still ended up stuck with this contract for ages and now theyre taking a hit just to get rid of it and people are acting like its some shocking twist when really it was always heading this way and the funniest part is half the comments are just people saying they forgot he existed which is exactly the problem because he became less of a footballer and more of a reminder that clubs will do anything to make the numbers look clever for a minute and then spend years cleaning up the mess and pretending it was all normal
