Barcelona agree Livakovic deal

Barcelona seem to be moving early on the goalkeeper situation, with an agreement reportedly in place for Dominik Livaković from Fenerbahçe. The idea appears to be to get the deal done now, loan him out for a season, and then bring him in properly later on.

It is a pretty interesting move on paper, especially with talk of planning ahead for Wojciech Szczesny's contract ending. Some people will see it as smart business, others will wonder if this is the best use of the money.

Either way, it has already split opinion a bit, with some saying he is quality and others thinking he is nowhere near Barcelona level. Feels like one of those transfers that will be judged very differently depending on who you ask.

I do not get why people are acting like this is some masterstroke because Livakovic has had a few big moments and suddenly everyone forgets the shaky stuff, the guy is fine on shot stopping sure but when the crosses come in or he has to play with his feet it gets messy fast and Barcelona fans are going to lose their minds the first time he hesitates under pressure, people keep saying backup this backup that but if you are trying to build for the future then why are you spending money on a keeper who is already being talked about like a stopgap and then loaning him out, it just feels like another one of those moves where the name sounds better than the fit and everyone pretends it is genius until the first bad game

Barca always doing goalkeeping roulette like it is a side quest now, one keeper in, one keeper out, one loan, one contract ending, absolute chaos and somehow they still act surprised when the fanbase is split on it

If the fee really is around four million then it is not a mad gamble, and the loan idea at least makes some sense if they want him settled before bringing him in properly, but it still feels like a weird timeline for a keeper move imo

The loan detail makes this more sensible than it first looks. Barcelona are clearly trying to avoid a rushed replacement situation.

This feels like a sensible move if the idea is to secure a long-term option before the contract situation gets messy. The question is whether Livakovic is actually the right profile for Barcelona, because the fit matters as much as the fee.

honestly this has me laughing a bit because barca and keeper drama just never ends does it they are always linked with someone and then there is another plan and another loan and another contract thing and you just sit there thinking here we go again

People are being far too harsh on him here because if Fenerbahçe have accepted the offer then clearly there is value there and four million for a keeper of his level is hardly some outrageous fee, the whole point is that Barcelona are trying to plan properly instead of waiting until everything collapses at once which is what everyone always complains they do, and yes he might not be perfect with crosses or build-up but not every goalkeeper has to be a passing midfielder in gloves to be useful, he is there to stop shots and win one v ones and that matters, especially when you are talking about a club that is trying to replace Szczesny at some stage and probably does not want to be scrambling around later, people acting like he is some disaster are just doing the usual lazy internet thing where if a player is not world class in every phase then he is apparently useless and that is bollocks
