Barcelona looked sharp here and the big talking point is how much the attacking movement stood out. The unselfish play and quick passing made the whole thing look very smooth, and Gordon keeps popping up in every comment for good reason.

Pedri getting praise too, which makes sense if he was the one pulling the strings. Elche just could not live with the pace and timing at times, and the debate now is whether this is exactly the kind of game Barcelona want to play more often.

A few people are already going overboard with the hype, but that is football forums for you. Still, there is clearly something clicking here and it will be interesting to see if this level translates against tougher sides.
 
The officials were all over the place here honestly, every little thing seemed to go one way and then the next decision was just as daft, you can never get a proper flow when the ref is letting all that nonsense go on and then suddenly stopping it for nothing, it kills any rhythm and it is even worse when a side is trying to build like Barcelona were because the game just becomes stop start bollocks and everyone ends up shouting at the screen
 
Barcelona were clearly the better side and the movement around the box looked really tidy. That said, Elche also made life easy by giving them space to run into, so I would not overstate it too much.
 
The speed in transition is the main takeaway for me. When Barcelona broke quickly, Elche looked unable to reset in time.
 
I do not think it was just one player doing everything. The whole team looked more connected once the tempo picked up.
 
Gordon is getting a lot of praise and fair enough, he clearly had a big impact on the attacking play. But Pedri deserves just as much credit for the way the ball was being moved and the timing on those passes, imo
 
nah i dont buy the whole one man show thing because barcelona were moving the ball well all over the pitch and it was the collective shape that caused the problems not just gordon doing bits every time
 
The interesting part is not even the scoreline itself, it is how quickly Barcelona seemed to turn simple possession into danger once the right passes started landing. Pedri coming on and the game changing is exactly the sort of thing people talk about when they say a midfielder can control the whole rhythm, and then you have all the hype around Gordon because he keeps ending up in the right place at the right time. But honestly, the more you watch it the more you realise Elche just could not cope with the pace of the moves, they were getting stretched all over the place and once that happens the whole shape goes, the pressing becomes useless, the back line gets dragged about, and suddenly everyone is talking about who needs to be signed for 50 million more as if that solves every football problem
 
Good attacking display, but it was helped by some really poor defending. Barcelona still looked more fluid once Pedri was involved.
 
Barcelona do look much more dangerous when the ball is moving quickly and the runners are timed properly. Gordon keeps getting mentioned because he clearly benefits from that style, but the whole thing works better when Pedri is pulling the strings and other players are making the selfish run less often and the smarter pass more often, and if they keep that up then a lot of teams are going to struggle against them, proper struggle, because the pace is just relentless and the confidence starts flying around, and then everyone starts acting like they knew it all along and the rest of us are just sat there thinking bloody hell this is getting silly now
 
gordon g/a prince is a hilarious thing to say when the game is basically being played on easy mode and everyone is acting like he invented football now lmao
