From a pure football perspective this is the sort of signing that makes people sit up because Rodri is the kind of midfielder who can control the pace of a match and make a side look much more settled, and Barcelona have been the sort of club where that profile always gets massive attention, but the reaction online is already doing the usual thing where everyone decides the transfer is either perfect or doomed before anything has even properly landed and that is what gets on my nerves because football discourse has become completely addicted to instant extremes, one minute it is best business ever and the next it is a disaster and honestly it is impossible to have a normal conversation about anything without half the replies turning into shouting matches about legacy and ambition and who bottled what and I swear if this goes through the whole internet will act like it knew all along and if it falls apart people will pretend they were never invested in the first place and that is just maddening

Rodri is the exact type of player people only appreciate properly when he is not there because he makes everything look simple and calm and that is why this signing, if it is actually done, is such a big deal for Barcelona and why some of the takes in here are just nonsense honestly, he is not some flashy merchant chasing clips he is the sort of midfielder who gives a team structure and control and lets everyone else breathe, and yet there will still be people saying it is overblown or that he is somehow just another name on a shirt, absolute bollocks, if Barca have got him then they have got a proper midfield brain and that is worth far more than all the meme posting and fake cynicism going on right now
