Barcelona win the Spanish Super Cup vs Real Madrid, Rashford miss and ref chaos

Joan Garcia has been clutch all season, but those two late chances were straight at him. Still, having a competent shot stopper makes a difference, even when the shots are poor. Madrid do not create much right now, it is mostly Vini dribbling past people and hoping.

The second half was a FOUL FEST. Everyone going down, stopping momentum, it was like UFC in midfield. Madrid milked it early and Barca struggled, then as soon as it calmed down Barca scored. Also, VINI was the only real attacking threat, taking him off is a wild call by Xabi.

A few things stood out for me:

- Madrid benefited from the ref letting a lot go early, very physical midfield.
- Carreras constantly hacking at Yamal with almost zero consequences is a pattern now.
- Once Madrid stopped slowing it down with cheap contact, Barca found rhythm again and scored soon after.

If Yamal never exaggerates contact, refs will keep ignoring it. Long term that is how you get Neymar and Hazard style wear and tear.

Not gonna lie, I expected Barca to see it out once they settled.

- Flick did not flinch under pressure.
- Barca sealed the last 10 minutes better than last season.
- Madrid chances at the death fell to the wrong guys.

Still, if Rashford finishes that, nobody is talking about the ending.

people were calling flick a bozo two months ago and now it is suddenly league and ucl talk. reactionary is the word. barca did look more mature in the last 10 though, even with the red, they didnt fully collapse like last season.

still cant get over this being played in saudi tbh, feels so off. but as a neutral it was a banger, loads of drama, red card, last second chances. barca probs deserved it overall, madrid were kinda empty without vini.

i just wanna see how rmtv spins this one, somehow it will be the ref against them or another negreira rant lol. meanwhile carreras shouldve had 2 reds and we all watched it happen

Spanish football always feels like a soap opera. The ref letting fouls go early suited Madrid, then the game turns into stop start chaos. But even with that, Barca played better overall and Madrid relied too much on Vini moments. Also, the end of added time felt endless.

ball dont lie man, ref tried to stop the inevitable. madrid with 12 still couldnt finish, thats the funniest part

PEOPLE WERE WRITING EULOGIES FOR FLICK TWO MONTHS AGO. Now it is suddenly patience and trust and trophies. Funny how that works. Barca fans can be unbelievably reactional, but Flick and the players proved a lot of people wrong with this one.

ref was a disgrace always favour madrid and still they cant win lol carreras asencio bellingham doing ufc no cards and then extra time just keeps going what a joke
