Beşiktaş and Italiano flying

Honestly this is exactly why I love football because one minute you are just checking a result and the next minute you are deep in a thread with people calling a manager the second coming and others acting like he is a joke because of his name or his hair or whatever, and the actual football point gets lost in the noise, but six wins with no goals conceded is still six wins with no goals conceded and that has to mean something, even if the red cards make the whole thing look a bit messy underneath, and if Beşiktaş can keep that level of control then rival fans are going to have to stop pretending it is all just a fluke, which they obviously will not because football fans never learn and just keep talking the same bollocks week after week

It is a very encouraging start, but the red cards and the early stage of the season mean it should be viewed with some caution. There is plenty to like, though.

I was in the pub with a mate when someone at the bar shouted that Beşiktaş had won again and nobody even knew who the manager was, so of course the first thing that happened was everyone trying to pronounce his name and then arguing about whether he was Italian enough for the joke to work, and by the end of it the whole table was taking the piss while still admitting that six wins and no goals conceded is mad, proper mad, because even the lads who do not watch a minute of that league could see that it is the sort of run that gets you talking all night and makes you wonder if there is something serious going on

nah i dont buy the whole hes untouchable thing yet because the red cards tell you there is still chaos in there and if that catches up with them the nice little run will look a lot less magical

People are being far too quick to turn this into a joke about the coach when the actual story is that Beşiktaş have found a system that is working and players are clearly buying into it, and that deserves respect even if the opposition has not been the hardest imaginable. A lot of teams would crumble with the kind of scrutiny and noise that comes with a start like this, but they have kept their shape, kept their heads, and kept clean sheets, which is exactly what you ask for from a side trying to build something. The red cards are a separate issue, sure, but that does not erase the fact that the team is defending properly and getting results, and I honestly think the people laughing now would be the same ones calling it a masterclass if it was happening at a bigger club

beşiktaş are flying and everyone in the thread is just doing bald fraud jokes and name memes but six wins and no goals conceded is still a proper statement even if the red cards make it look a bit chaotic underneath
