Betis sign Troy Parrot

I’m going to say it because nobody else seems bothered to talk about the actual football, Troy Parrot is exactly the sort of player who gets judged unfairly when people want instant goals and instant headlines and then if he has a quiet spell everyone starts acting like he was never any good, which is ridiculous because some strikers need the right setup and the right movement around them and if Betis know what they are doing they will use him properly and not just lump it up and hope, the whole point of a signing like this is that he can give you something different and that should be exciting, but of course the thread is full of bird jokes and people pretending that is analysis, absolute madness, the lad deserves better than being reduced to a meme before he has even settled

Betis have done well to get him in if they think he fits the system, but the real test is whether he gets enough clean service because a striker can look brilliant or useless depending on that one thing, and that is before the joke merchants get involved

Can we talk about the officials for a second or are we just pretending transfers happen in a vacuum because half the time these deals get spun as brilliant business and then you find out the rules, the paperwork, the timing, all of it has been a complete mess and everyone still acts shocked, if there is a big sell on clause then fine, if there is not then somebody is taking the piss, and the way these things get buried under memes is ridiculous, proper clown show sometimes

It looks like a move that could suit both sides. Betis get a forward who seems to fit their style, and he gets a chance to prove himself at a higher level. The only real question is whether he settles quickly enough to make it count.

The interesting part here is less the memes and more the fit. If he is effective playing on the shoulder of the last defender, then Betis may have added a useful weapon for transition and for stretching back lines. That is the sort of profile that can quietly be very valuable.

I dont get the people saying this is somehow a massive steal or some genius masterclass already because we have literally seen one announcement and a load of green jokes and thats it, maybe he does well maybe he doesnt but the certainty is weird, you can like the move without pretending you know the whole outcome already

There is real upside here if Betis use him well. A striker who can run in behind is always useful, especially if the team wants to open games up.
