Brand Finance club brand values: Real top, United down, Arsenal up

If the ranking is built around perception and commercial reach, then the odd placements are easier to understand. It is still not the same as sporting success, though.

A club brand ranking can be useful if you want to understand commercial pull, but people are treating it like it should line up perfectly with football common sense and that is never going to happen. The minute you start putting clubs into neat little boxes based on global recognition, marketing, and perception you are already miles away from what fans actually care about, which is results, identity, and whether the team turns up on a Saturday. That is why the United reaction is so intense because their name still feels enormous to loads of people, and why Arsenal fans are loving it because any external praise feels like vindication after years of stick, but honestly the whole thing is just another reminder that football has become part sport part content machine and everyone hates that except the people making money from it

Used to sit in the pub with my old man and every time United or Real came on the telly everyone in the room knew exactly who they were talking about, no charts needed, no brand finance nonsense, just pure recognition and noise and a bit of fear if you were on the wrong end of them, and thats why these lists always feel a bit off to me because they try to bottle something that was never meant to be bottled, the whole point of being a big club is that people feel it in their bones, not because some report says the brand is worth this or that, and now every fan is arguing over whether Arsenal should be above United or whether Chelsea are too high or whether Tottenham even exist and it just reminds me how detached the online football world has become from actual football talk, proper mad really

United being down there is peak embarrassment and I am sorry but people can dress it up however they want, this is still Manchester United we are talking about and seeing them behind Arsenal and all these other clubs is just taking the piss, the badge alone should carry more weight than half the teams on that list, and before anyone starts with the whole recent form excuse I do not care, brand value is built over years and United have spent decades being one of the biggest names in the sport, so if this report says otherwise then the report is wrong and that is that, I swear every time something like this comes out it turns into another chance for rival fans to act like the club is dead when really they would kill for the same global pull, same attention, same history, same everything and they know it, which is why they are all so desperate to pile in and laugh at 8th like it means something profound when it is just another internet graph made by people who probably never kicked a ball in their lives
