Brighton want £80m for Minteh

Brighton can point to their leverage, but Liverpool still have the option to walk away. The main issue is timing, because late bids almost always cost more when the selling club is already settled.

It feels like a classic late-window premium. Brighton know exactly what they are doing and Liverpool know they have very little room to manoeuvre, imo

honestly i dont even know why people are acting shocked anymore every single window turns into this same circus where one club says a mad number and another club leaks that theyre not paying it and then everyone spends two days screaming about value like anyone actually cares about value in modern football its all leverage and panic and ego and every club thinks theyre a genius until they get done over themselves and i swear the whole thing is just making fans miserable because you sit there waiting for something sensible to happen and instead you get another headline about a winger being worth enough money to buy a small island

This looks like leverage more than anything else. Brighton do not seem forced sellers, Liverpool are late, and that combination usually pushes the fee up. It does not mean the player is bad or the asking price is automatically fair, just that the negotiation is tilted heavily one way.

had something similar down the pub last night with a mate who supports brighton and he was loving every second of it saying they should quote liverpool whatever number they fancy because thats what happens when big clubs come sniffing late and i was trying to say thats all well and good until its your lot getting rinsed and he just kept laughing into his pint like it was the funniest thing in the world and to be fair he wasnt wrong because this is exactly the kind of transfer nonsense that has everyone arguing for weeks and then in the end nothing happens anyway and we all go home annoyed
