Bruno Fernandes sets new PL assist record

Imagine calling him finished and then watching him rack up 21 assists absolute scenes from the Bruno doubters
 
The record is impressive, but what really stands out is how much responsibility he has carried in different areas of the pitch. If he has been deeper for parts of the season and still ended up with 21 assists, that says a lot about both his quality and United's reliance on him.
 
That number is not an accident. He has been the main source of chance creation and set-piece delivery, so the record reflects both his quality and the role he has been given.
 
It is a huge achievement, but it also shows how much United have depended on one player for creativity. That is impressive and a little worrying at the same time.
 
People act like this is all some sort of fluke but it really is not, because if you actually watch United you can see Bruno is the one trying to make things happen every single week while others hide, he gets battered for being emotional and for taking risks but that is exactly why he ends up with numbers like this, someone has to take responsibility and he does it, and now the same fans who wanted him gone are moving the goalposts like it was always obvious he was brilliant, which is just embarrassing, he has been the heartbeat of that side for years and if anything this season proves he has been doing even more than anyone gave him credit for, so no I am not having the nonsense about him being overhyped or lucky or whatever, he is the one dragging them through the mud and still producing while everyone else around him looks lost and that is why this record matters so much
 
I do not think the record should be used to pretend every criticism of him was wrong, but it is still an elite creative season. He has obviously been central to everything United do going forward, and that level of output is not normal.
