Cape Verde celebrate knockout place after 0-0 with Saudi Arabia

Cape Verde have earned a lot of respect here. Getting through a group like that is not just a nice story, it shows real organisation and belief imo
 
They have built this on being hard to beat, and that is often the best base in a short tournament. Two clean sheets and a place in the knockouts is a huge reward for that approach.
 
Not even a Cape Verde fan and I am still buzzing off this because moments like this are why you stay up late for football, the whole thing feels bigger than the result and you can just imagine what it means back home, absolutely class
 
This is why football still gets you even when you think youve seen it all because Cape Verde have gone and done something that feels straight out of a film, first ever World Cup and they come through a group with Spain and Uruguay and then celebrate a 0-0 like theyve won the whole thing, and honestly fair enough because this is massive, but of course there will be people trying to downplay it or make some smug little joke about the draw as if the whole point isnt that they got the job done against teams that on paper should have had them done in a minute, nah, credit where it is due, this is a brilliant story and anyone acting above it is just being a proper melt
 
You just know half the football world is scrambling to pretend they were backing Cape Verde from day one now because this is exactly the kind of story people love once it is already done, and fair play to them because theyve earned the right to enjoy it, but the amount of lads online suddenly becoming experts on their group and acting like they expected this all along is taking the piss a bit
