Champions League 2026/27 line-up is set

The thing that stands out to me is how many of the old assumptions no longer apply because the competition has changed so much and the pots are not just a list of the usual giants with a few extras, which means every fan is already looking at the draw and trying to work out who they want and who they absolutely do not want. I get why people are excited about the novelty of two Norwegian clubs and two Turkish clubs, and I can see why those away days have become the headline, but if your team ends up with the wrong mix of home and away fixtures then all of that romance disappears very quickly and suddenly everyone is complaining that the system is cursed and that UEFA have done it again and honestly that is probably exactly what will happen because football fans cant help themselves and I am already getting annoyed just thinking about the nonsense
 
Ive got to admit this one feels a bit surreal to me because seeing names like these all set for the same competition just does not look normal yet, and I keep thinking about how different the whole thing would have felt a few years ago when some of these clubs would have sounded like fantasy picks rather than real contenders in the mix
 
On one hand the new format does seem to spread quality around a bit better, and that should make the league phase more competitive than people expected. On the other hand, the whole thing still comes down to the draw and the travel, and once you start thinking about a club having to deal with places like Bodø or Sabah the conversation quickly stops being about quality and starts being about pure suffering, which is why fans are already acting like the fixtures have been decided by fate rather than a computer
 
I think the most interesting part is that the conversation has shifted from who the biggest names are to how the fixtures might actually feel for each club, and that says a lot about the new format. You can still end up with a very tough set of games without the old group stage drama, so the draw is probably going to matter more than people want to admit tbh
 
Nah i dont think pot four is the main story here, the real thing is how weird the whole set of teams looks compared to what people are used to
