Chelsea and Villa doing transfer madness again

Chelsea fans acting like they have discovered alchemy because another club might overpay for a player they do not even want is hilarious, every thread is the same smug little victory lap as if the rest of us are meant to be impressed that they can rinse someone for cash, proper weird behaviour that

The funniest part of all this is that people keep talking about who is winning the deal when the real answer is probably that both clubs think they are winning and both will come out of it telling themselves a story about smart recruitment and asset management and squad building while the rest of us are sat here wondering how a striker can be worth this much after being in and out of favour and apparently surrounded by all these side deals and loan fees and swap possibilities and whatever else is going on behind the scenes because it feels like there is always another layer to these Chelsea moves and it just gets more ridiculous the longer you look at it

If Villa believe Jackson fits their setup, the fee matters less than the fit. The market is inflated enough that this sort of number is becoming normal.

honestly i laughed when i saw the headline because this whole thing feels like a fever dream, villa paying that much for jackson after everything thats been said about him is wild and chelsea somehow turning him into another profit is even wilder, football is broken mate

If you look at it tactically, Jackson gives you pace in behind and a proper outlet if you want to play more direct, which is probably why Villa are even thinking about it. The issue is whether he is the guy you build around or just another piece in a system that hides the rough edges because at this price you are expecting a lot more than flashes and chaos

People keep acting like Villa are mad for even considering this but if they think Jackson suits their style then fair enough because he is not some random nobody, he has played in the league and he can hurt teams when he gets space and Chelsea selling him for a huge fee does not automatically mean Villa are being mugged, it might just mean the market is cooked and everyone is paying stupid money for decent players now, that is on the whole league not just on Villa and I am sick of the pile on because every club would do the same if they thought they could improve the squad and nobody would be calling them idiots then

The sensible reading is that Chelsea have priced him high because they know someone will eventually blink, and Villa might be the club willing to do it if they think the player suits them. But then you start thinking about how one transfer can connect to another, and suddenly everyone is talking about Rogers money and swap logic and loan fees and whether the books are being painted in a certain way, and honestly that is the part of football that drives me up the wall because the actual player on the pitch gets lost in this giant mess of numbers and spin and people online turning every transfer into a conspiracy thread

i dont think this is just chelsea getting away with it, villa would only do it if they had a plan and jackson is not some unusable clown like people are making out, he can actually play and the fee is ugly but the market is ugly for everyone now so acting like this is some unique scam is a bit much
