Cherki changes it again for City

Cherki comes on and suddenly everybody is a tactical genius online, same every week, but fair play he did make it look easy and now half the comments are acting like the manager has been personally insulting football itself by not starting him

The measured point here is that City found a way to change the game late, which good sides often do, and Cherki clearly added something different in the final stretch. But then you end up thinking about how often this happens in football where one sub looks like a genius move and suddenly everyone is rewriting the whole match narrative, and that is where the fun and the madness of it kicks in because people will now spend the next week arguing about starting lineups, bench roles, whether a manager is stubborn or visionary, and somehow a defender scoring like a forward becomes part of that same debate, which is very football and completely absurd

The officials really need to explain how that was handled because if the linesman has got that wrong then it is a massive mistake and it changes the entire feel of the game, and even if City ended up winning anyway it does not make it fine, the flag should not be going up when someone is clearly onside and then everyone is sat there waiting for a check that never seems to come quickly enough, it is just more of the same rubbish where you are left staring at the screen wondering what the point of the technology and the extra eyes is if the basic call still looks miles off and nobody wants to own it afterwards

Cherki’s cameo was the difference, and City looked much more dangerous once he was involved. Bournemouth will feel hard done by, but they also let the pressure build too much imo
