City's summer sales in dollars

Seeing City's total sales this summer laid out like this is pretty wild, even before you get into the currency confusion. The headline figure is massive, and it has already got people arguing about what it actually means in pounds or euros

A few names on that list are obvious business, a few feel surprisingly cheap, and a few have people joking about legal fees and other nonsense. Either way, it has turned into one of those threads where the money is almost as entertaining as the football

The main point is still that City have moved on a huge amount of value, and that is hard to ignore whether you are a fan or not. But the currency thing is doing half the work here because everyone sees the headline and thinks one thing, then someone points out it is in dollars and the whole debate shifts. That is basically modern football now though, spreadsheets, exchange rates, and endless arguments about whether a club is being clever or just weirdly run. Half the replies are about Ake, half are about lawyers, and somehow we end up talking about Bosnian Convertible Marks and it feels completely normal

You can argue about the currency all day, but the broader point is that City have shifted a lot of players and a lot of value. Some of those fees look low for experienced defenders, while others reflect contracts and squad planning, imo

i swear every time city sell someone people act like its the end of football or some money laundering scheme and then the next minute theyre asking who they are buying next like make your mind up lads its either a masterclass or a crime apparently

From a squad-building perspective, this looks like a deliberate reset rather than random sales. The surprise is less the total and more the fact that several established names are involved, which suggests the club are happy to keep turning the squad over rather than hold on to experience.

nah i dont buy the whole this is all disposable players thing because if they were that disposable everyone would have snapped them up years ago and you wouldnt be sat here pretending every sale is some genius move, some of it is just market timing and people panic because city are involved
