its mad how rare it is for a board to say something with actual spine these days and even if nothing changes straight away at least theyve put it out there in public where everyone can see it instead of doing the usual polite nonsense behind closed doors
 
If you look at it purely as a governance thing, this is the sort of public pressure that matters more than people think because it changes the tone around him and makes it harder for others to hide behind neutrality and that is before you even get into the optics of a unanimous board backing it, which is strong in itself and says a lot about how far his reputation has fallen
 
Infantino has spent ages acting like the whole game revolves around him and that is what annoys me most because it is not just the statements or the headlines, it is the whole vibe of a bloke who seems to think every camera belongs on him and every issue needs his face attached to it and now when a proper board actually speaks out suddenly he looks even smaller than before and honestly good because the way he carries himself has always had that fake power merchant energy about it and people have let him get away with far too much for far too long and I am sick of seeing him front and centre as if he is some kind of football messiah when all he has done is make himself more unbearable every time he opens his mouth and if this is the start of people finally telling him to piss off then about bloody time because he has been doing my head in for years
 
The officials and the whole football hierarchy have made a complete mess of this sort of thing for years and now everyone wants to act surprised when a board finally says what loads of people have been thinking because the reality is these people protect each other until the pressure gets too loud and then they pretend it was always obvious and this is exactly why supporters have no trust in any of them and why every statement gets treated like theatre and not leadership because the game is full of people who will happily stand around doing nothing while the same faces keep getting recycled through the system and then when somebody actually calls for change the response is all carefully worded nonsense and spin and more spin and it just feels like a never ending joke at this point
 
On paper this is exactly the sort of thing that should matter because a unanimous board stance gives the message a bit of weight and makes it harder for everyone else to shrug it off as one random opinion, and if more organisations did this then the pressure would genuinely build. But then you remember how football works and it becomes obvious that a strong statement can still just end up as another headline unless people keep pushing, which is frustrating because the principle is right and the timing feels right and yet somehow it still might all drift into nothing because the whole game is full of cowards and careerists who love a bit of outrage until it is time to actually back it up and then suddenly they are all busy
 
It is encouraging to see a board say something with actual conviction for once, because so much of football governance is just soft language and empty gestures and everybody pretending that no one can ever be challenged. But you can already see how this will probably go, with people praising the statement for a day and then moving on while the same mess carries on in the background and honestly it is exhausting because these people always seem to find a way to keep themselves in place no matter how many times they get called out and at some point you just want someone to actually follow through and clear the lot out
 
A unanimous board statement matters because it is harder to dismiss than a lone complaint, and it at least puts public pressure on the right people. Still, football politics has a habit of swallowing these moments whole, imo
 
not even danish but this has me weirdly proud and annoyed at the same time because it feels like somebody finally said what loads of people have been thinking and yet you know the whole thing will probably just turn into another pointless row with no real change and that is the part that gets me
