That tackle from Djed Spence against Argentina was proper outrageous. He looks like he is playing with zero fear and every challenge is being timed to perfection

People were chatting about him like he was just another squad option and now he is out here making everyone sit up and pay attention. The energy around him has completely flipped

Whether you are a Spurs fan, an England fan, or just watching as a neutral, it is hard not to be buzzing about how big this moment feels for him

The bigger thing for me is how Spence is stepping into the game and not just reacting to it, hes reading the danger early and getting there before it turns into a proper problem, that kind of fullback play is massive in a tournament where one mistake kills you

He has gone from being talked about like a forgotten lad to looking like he belongs on this stage, and that is no small thing. The tackle was brilliant but what stands out is the confidence, the timing, the way he is just moving like he knows he can win anything. If he keeps this up then all the old opinions about him are going to look ridiculous and honestly some people need to hold that for a very long time because they wrote him off so quickly and now its all changed and it must sting for them

Honestly i dont even know what some people were watching before because Spence has looked this good for a while and now all of a sudden everyone wants to act shocked like he has just appeared out of nowhere, the tackle is obviously massive but its also about the way he has been carrying himself all tournament, calm in the duels, sharp in the recovery, not getting dragged into panic like some players do when the pressure hits, and if you are a defender in a game like this then thats the exact sort of thing you need, not all the flashy nonsense just proper defending and he has been giving that in spades and the amount of people who were slating him before this is mad because football fans absolutely love a rewrite once the cameras are on them

Nah i dont buy the whole its just one tackle thing, he has been good for a few games now and the consistency is what matters, people only notice when it ends up on the highlight reel but the positioning and recovery work has been there too, not just this one moment

It was a huge moment, but the build-up matters too. He has looked increasingly confident and this tackle feels like the reward for that form.

Some of you are acting like he stopped a nuclear launch mate it was a tackle and now hes prime Maldini apparently absolutely tragic behaviour

The key detail is that he is not just making a highlight tackle, he is arriving with control and balance. That suggests he is seeing the game well, which is usually a better sign than pure aggression alone.

It is a massive moment for him, and fair play because he has clearly handled the pressure well. At the same time, one brilliant challenge should not erase the fact that form has to be sustained over time.

The officials are lucky nobody is talking about them because if that had gone the other way people would be tearing them apart, you see this all the time where a player makes one huge intervention and suddenly the whole thing gets turned into a circus around him but the ref and assistants still have to do their jobs and half the time they just let things drift until the game turns ugly, its maddening really because you can feel the tension building and then one call either calms everything down or makes it ten times worse and today it feels like everyone is just pretending the officiating wasnt part of the whole mess
