Dumfries to Real Madrid looks done

Madrid have basically looked at a gap on the right and gone right we need a runner who can actually hold width and attack the back post and Dumfries fits that really well even if he is not the flashiest option and for €20m you can absolutely see why they moved fast because it is the sort of deal where if you wait another week someone else starts sniffing around and suddenly the price is different
 
The officials in football are not even involved here but somehow this still feels like one of those moments where everyone is going to pretend the clause was written in invisible ink because how on earth do you let a player like that walk for this kind of fee when the market is completely cooked and clubs are paying daft money for half decent bench options and then people wonder why fans are angry about contracts and renewals and the people making these decisions must be taking the piss because if you set a low release clause then of course a giant club is going to come in and take him and then the smaller club is left explaining it away like it was some clever strategy instead of just a brutal own goal
 
i actually feel weirdly emotional about this because he is one of those players you do not really expect to end up at madrid but then you look back at the path he has taken and it makes perfect sense and it is just nice seeing someone get a big move off the back of proper graft and not just hype and academy noise
 
It is easy to laugh at how random this looks, but the more you think about it the more logical it becomes. Madrid get a useful right back at a fair price, Inter knew the clause situation, and Dumfries gets the biggest move of his career at a point where he can still contribute straight away imo
 
Madrid just keep finding these weirdly sensible signings while everyone else is out here panic buying and overpaying and somehow it works every time and Dumfries feels like one of those players who will turn up and make the whole right side look stronger without needing the ball every second and that is probably exactly why this move makes sense even if it looks a bit funny on first glance
 
I genuinely do not get the people acting like this is some flawless masterstroke and not just a club using a release clause because the player is available and the fee is low and yes Dumfries has had a good career and yes he has improved from club to club but if we are being honest there are still questions about how much he will actually play and whether he fits the exact rhythm Madrid want and everyone is talking like he is going to walk in and dominate when we have seen plenty of these transfers look clever in July and then by October everyone is asking why the guy is suddenly on the bench and I am not saying he is bad because he is obviously not but the hype is getting a bit ridiculous and the way some fans are already calling him a perfect fit is doing my head in because football is never that clean and simple and people need to calm down and wait before crowning him
 
People are acting like this is some galaxy brain move but it is just Madrid doing Madrid things and every other club sitting there looking at the fee like they have discovered fire and the funniest part is everyone will now pretend they knew Dumfries was the obvious answer all along
 
I do not agree that this is some strange transfer at all because the profile is obvious and the price is tidy and the timing works, so it is more sensible than flashy and that is exactly why Madrid like it
 
inter will miss him more than people think because he gives them something direct and reliable and it aint easy replacing a lad who keeps showing up and doing the basics well and on a low fee like that you just know madrid have seen an opening and gone for it without overthinking it
 
the more i think about it the more this feels like one of those transfers that only makes sense because the clause is there and the player has already done the hard part of proving himself at every level and i know people love to say madrid are just collecting names but this actually looks like a proper fit for what they need on the right because he brings power, width and that far post threat and it is mad how quickly the whole thing has happened from rumours to agreement to basically done and fair play to dumfries because going from where he started to ending up at real madrid is no joke and if anyone says he has not earned it they are talking absolute bollocks because he has grafted for years and now he gets the reward and that is exactly how football should work and i dont care if it looks random because random or not it is a massive move and he deserves the hype and anyone trying to downplay it is just being weird about it
 
On a footballing level this is a very logical signing for Madrid because they are getting a player with clear physical qualities, a defined role and a fee that is easy to justify in the current market. On a career level it is even better because Dumfries has gone from the sort of player people overlook to someone who has forced his way into one of the biggest moves possible, and that is a brilliant story in itself. But honestly once you look at the comments and the speed of the deal it becomes hard not to laugh because everyone is either acting shocked or acting like they knew all along and the whole thing has that slightly unreal feel to it where a move is both sensible and completely absurd at the same time, and if this ends up being the one that actually works out then fair enough, but right now it just has that weird, chaotic, proper Madrid energy about it and i am here for it tbh
