Embolo tears after the red

At a basic level, the logic is simple: if you are already booked, you cannot afford to gift the referee an easy second yellow by throwing yourself down. That part is obvious and the punishment fits the mistake. What makes it so strange is that he seemed to have no awareness of how exposed he was in that moment, and that is where the criticism becomes fair because it is not just a bad dive, it is a complete failure of judgement when the stakes were already high. Then the tears come and suddenly it feels like everyone wants to turn it into some tragic scene, but it was still self-inflicted and it still looks ridiculous and I do not know how anyone can defend it without just making excuses for nonsense

The most interesting part is not the dive itself, it is the context around it. He was already booked, so the margin for error was tiny, and that makes the decision even harder to justify. Once you look at it that way, the second yellow feels entirely predictable rather than controversial.

I can understand why some people feel a bit sorry for him because the emotion looked genuine, but that doesnt change the fact he brought it on himself. It is one of those cases where the punishment is harsh only because the action was so reckless in the first place.

Cant lie seeing him in tears made me feel weird about it because at first I was laughing like everyone else but then you remember its his whole tournament and he has probably just cost his side a massive chance and that is rough even if he did it to himself and now its one of those moments you know will be clipped forever and used against him every time his name comes up
