FIFA hand out World Cup final bans

FIFA have finally come down on the World Cup final incidents, with Paredes getting the biggest punishment, Gavi getting one match, and bans also landing on Molina, Almada and Ayala. The AFA have also been hit with a hefty fine, so it is not just the players taking the blow.

The reactions are pretty split, but a lot of people seem glad FIFA actually bothered to do something for once. Others are already pointing out the usual inconsistency and asking why some names seem to get punished while others walk away untouched.

Either way, these are suspensions that only affect internationals, so the clubs are fine. Still, for a few of these lads it feels like a proper message from FIFA, whether you think it is deserved or a bit all over the place.

gavi getting one match for this is mad honestly and people acting like fifa have solved football now when half the stuff that goes on gets ignored
 
It feels inconsistent, but at least FIFA acted this time. The international-only part makes it less dramatic for the clubs.
 
People keep acting like this is some grand justice moment but it is still selective as hell and you can already see the double standards in the replies, one lad gets cooked and another gets a token ban and everyone pretends that balances it out
 
The key thing here is the bans only apply to internationals, so the clubs do not really lose anything. That makes the whole thing feel more symbolic than anything else, but it also explains why FIFA were willing to throw the book at them

The thing that gets me is how FIFA always manage to make these disciplinary decisions feel both obvious and weird at the same time because on one hand you look at the final incidents and think yeah fine punish the lot of them, but then you see the actual spread of bans and it just turns into this bizarre little spreadsheet of outrage where one player gets effectively retired from international football, another gets a tiny slap on the wrist, and everyone else is arguing about who should have got more or less and somehow the whole conversation ends up about Bellingham and Luis Enrique anyway which is exactly why people do not trust FIFA with anything because they never make it feel clean or consistent they just drop a hammer and hope everyone claps
