Proper scenes in Florence here. Whatever you think of the club, you cannot deny how good this looks with the city as the backdrop and the purple everywhere.

It feels like one of those moments where football is bigger than the result on the pitch for once. You can see why people get so attached to clubs like Fiorentina, especially when the whole city seems to be out celebrating together.

Also funny how a few people are joking that the real celebration is for Mastantuono's arrival and the 100th anniversary is just the excuse. Either way, it looks like a brilliant night to be around that club.

Mastantuono is getting treated like he's already some club legend before he's even properly settled and honestly thats the most football thing ever, fans will build a lad into a hero off one rumour and a scarf photo and then act shocked when he has a quiet month, still fair play the whole thing feels massive but people are absolutely losing their heads over him already

The setting really does make it look unreal, and the purple makes it pop even more. Some clubs just have that kind of atmosphere built in tbh

It looks brilliant but you can also see why these moments matter more when the club actually leans into the city and the identity instead of trying to be some generic brand, the colour, the streets, the crowd all do half the work and it feels like proper football culture not corporate nonsense

A measured point would be that this is exactly the kind of thing football should still be about, a club, a city, and people actually turning up to celebrate something that means more than one match. But then you start thinking about how many fans only ever see the sport through clips and timelines and never get that feeling of being in the middle of it, and it just becomes a whole thing about modern football, ticket prices, screens, atmosphere dying off, all that rubbish, when really this is the bit that still makes it worth caring about and you can almost forget the rest until someone mentions a transfer and then it all goes back to chaos anyway
