Fixture congestion is getting ridiculous

If you want to keep pressing high for 90 minutes every few days then you need a fresh squad, otherwise the whole structure falls apart and you end up defending deeper anyway because the legs are gone and the distances get too big

The measured point here is that elite clubs do have more tools than everyone else, so the burden is not distributed equally across the game, but once you look past that you still end up at the same conclusion that the whole structure is too dense and too obsessed with squeezing value out of every date on the calendar. What really gets me is how quickly these conversations turn into people saying the players are paid enough or should just rotate better, as if the answer to chronic workload is simply telling bodies to cope harder. That is not how fatigue works, and it is not how injuries work either, and honestly the more the sport leans into this the more it starts to feel like everyone in charge is just seeing how far they can push it before something properly breaks

At some stage this has to become a proper labour issue because the numbers are getting silly and every season seems to push the line a little further, and I know people love saying the players earn enough to deal with it but that is missing the point entirely because the product itself suffers when the same lads are asked to do this much, the intensity drops, the injuries rise and then everyone complains the football is boring or stale, which is exactly what happens when you run people into the ground and keep pretending there is no limit, and if the answer from the suits is just more games then honestly they can get in the bin because this is taking the piss
