France 4-6 England: absolute madness

I was in the pub and half the room had stopped caring because it was supposed to be the boring game and then suddenly everyone was on their feet again every few minutes, lads I know who barely watch football were actually losing it at the screen and one of them nearly spilled his pint when the late goal went in, proper nonsense from start to finish and exactly the sort of thing that makes you laugh about how random football can be when you least expect it
 
all that build up about a dead rubber and then it turns into end to end chaos, proper taking the piss out of anyone who skipped it thinking it would be a snoozefest
 
The key thing is that both teams committed to attacking once the game opened up, which is why it stayed entertaining. If either side had settled for control, it probably would have lost its edge, but instead we got a genuinely wild finish.
