France’s World Cup squad is ridiculous

this is ridiculous honestly theyve got so much quality up top and people are acting like the whole thing is falling apart because of the midfield when most teams would kill for this sort of depth
 
On paper this is still one of the strongest squads in the tournament and I do not think anyone can seriously deny that, but the conversation about midfield depth is fair because you can see how everything is being pushed towards the front line. Even so, if the team starts well nobody will be talking about balance, they will just be talking about results, and that is where France tend to make everyone look silly, which is why this whole thing has me half excited and half stressed because they always find a way to make it dramatic
 
It is a very strong squad overall, even if the midfield looks lighter than some would like. The attack gives them a huge ceiling, but tournament football can punish imbalance quickly if the game state goes against them.
 
The key question is whether they can control matches without overloading the front line. If the midfield can keep the ball moving and protect the defence, the attacking depth becomes even more dangerous.
 
france just turning up with that kind of attack and making the rest of us look like weve brought a lunchbox and a prayer lol
 
There is a sensible argument that France are still favourites because their best players are better than most other nations best players, and that usually matters more than neat squad balance. But then you look at the list and wonder if they have built a team or just collected names for a highlight reel, because the whole thing feels like it was assembled by someone who got bored after picking attackers and decided midfield was optional, which is exactly the sort of thing that can come back to bite them when the tournament gets tight
 
The officials will have a field day if France get anything soft in this tournament because everyone already treats them like the golden boys and the moment a decision goes their way the whole world will lose its mind, and honestly I can already see it now some bizarre handball call or a soft pen and the commentary will be unbearable, the ref will be under the spotlight every single match and it will all become a massive circus again
 
they look like they will just try to overwhelm teams with talent and if the midfield cant hold up then it could get messy but you cannot ignore how many match winners are in there
 
France are always like this, though. They name a squad that makes everyone else look ordinary and then act like it is completely normal, which is annoying enough already, but then you remember some of the omissions and it gets even worse because there are players left out who would walk into plenty of other teams, and somehow this just keeps happening with them, every tournament, every cycle, just endless depth and endless misery for everyone else
 
Camavinga is the one that really sticks out to me because people keep talking about him like he should be automatic and then he keeps getting pushed out of the picture in these big moments, and whether that is fair or not, it is starting to look like a real problem for him, because the hype has always been massive but the actual place in the team keeps slipping away and that is brutal for a player of his profile when the squad is already this loaded and every mistake gets magnified
