France’s World Cup squad is ridiculous

I dont think the midfield is as weak as people are making out, there is still plenty of quality there and tournament football is often decided by how well the front players finish chances anyway, so all the doom and gloom feels a bit over the top
 
Seeing Mateta and Lacroix in there has genuinely made my day, I was not expecting that at all and it feels massive for Palace as well, proper proud fan moment
 
People are acting like this is some sort of disaster because the midfield numbers are low, but come on, the talent is still there and the players omitted would get into most squads in world football anyway, so maybe calm down a bit before declaring the whole thing broken. France have earned the benefit of the doubt because they always find another gear when it matters and everyone else just ends up chasing shadows, so all this doom talk feels premature and a bit disrespectful to the lads who did make it, because they are still more than capable of winning the whole thing and making the rest of us look daft
 
I think calling the midfield average is too harsh. It may not be the headline area, but there is still enough quality there to support the squad.
