Gordon to Barca over Bayern?

The calm reading is that this says more about market dynamics than it does about one player being some generational superstar. Bayern and Barca both looking at the same winger means he probably fits a very specific need, and when clubs at that level agree on a target you should at least take the idea seriously. But then you get the internet reaction, everyone turns into a scout, a lawyer and a meme account all at once, and the whole thing becomes impossible to discuss normally because one side wants to call him elite and the other wants to call him overpriced before the deal has even settled, which is exactly why transfer season is such a mess

Had a bloke in the pub the other night insisting that every big club signing is just about ego and not football, and he was going on about how nobody watches enough games to judge properly, which is probably fair enough in some cases, but then he started saying Gordon would be wasted at Barca and I nearly choked on my pint because the same lad spent twenty minutes earlier telling us Bayern were the only serious club in Europe, proper contradiction, anyway the whole thing reminds me of when people argued over a transfer all summer and then by October the player had settled and everyone acted like they knew it all along, football chat in pubs is basically just confidence and nonsense mixed together and this one feels exactly like that
