There is a pretty fair middle ground here where you can believe Griezmann is being sincere without pretending the move is some grand footballing pilgrimage, because players can want a different life, a different culture, and a different stage for the final part of their career while still taking the sport seriously, and that seems to be what he is getting at, but of course football discourse cannot leave it there because everyone wants to turn it into either a joke about retirement or a heroic declaration of love for the league, and then the whole thing spirals into the usual internet nonsense where people argue about motives as if they are mind readers, and somehow we end up having the same conversation about MLS every single time a big name mentions it, which is exhausting and kind of funny at the same time
 
honestly fair play to him because if i had the chance to move somewhere and enjoy the whole thing while still doing my job id probably take it too, people act like every footballer has to live and die by european snobbery and its just weird, let him have his moment
 
I do not think it is fair to dismiss it outright. A player can want both a new life and a serious football challenge at the same time.
