Guendouzi calls out fan abuse

Guendouzi has kicked off a proper debate here after saying 60,000 people were insulting his family before the game and no one on the referee's side told the crowd to quieten down. He also said that in France, they would talk to the fans and stop the match when this sort of thing happens.

It is one of those comments that will split opinion straight away. Some will say he is just stirring it up again, others will say fans dish it out and cannot handle it back.

Either way, it says a lot about the state of football crowds when this is even a conversation. Where do you lot stand on it?
 
I get why people will roll their eyes at Guendouzi because he always seems to be in the middle of something, but the actual point here is not exactly crazy. If the crowd is crossing that line into family abuse, then pretending it is just normal football banter feels pretty grim tbh
 
I was in a pub after a match once and there was this lad who spent the whole night acting like he was the moral authority on football because he had been to every home game for years and he kept saying players should just ignore the crowd and get on with it and I remember thinking that people say that until it is their own family getting dragged into it because there is a massive difference between normal abuse and people shouting about your mother and kids and all that and football fans love to act like they are part of some sacred tradition when really half of them are just using the match as a license to be horrible and then they wonder why players give it back and why the atmosphere gets nastier every season and honestly the whole thing just makes the game feel more and more bitter
 
the amount of people acting like this is normal football culture is mad really if your idea of support is screaming about someones mum and kids then youre not a proper fan youre just a gobshite with a ticket
