It is a silly photo, but that is exactly why it has taken off. Football fans love a player who accidentally becomes meme material while doing something harmless.
 
If you are an official and you see that photo and still think anyone can take football seriously for five minutes then I dont know what to tell you because this whole thing is already more entertaining than half the matches we get judged by and it is always the same with referees and the people around the game, they will scrutinise the tiniest thing on the pitch but then a player comes home with a stuffed raccoon and suddenly the entire internet is having the time of its life while the suits are probably trying to work out whether there is a policy for unusual luggage and honestly they can piss off with that because this is the sort of harmless nonsense the game needs
 
Imagine being the person at the airport trying to work out if this is part of a team photo or some weird mascot launch because the whole thing looks absolutely dead serious and completely ridiculous at the same time, and now every fan is making jokes like he has returned from a quest with treasure, which is fair enough because that is exactly what it looks like
