Haaland arriving back in Norway and the thing people are focusing on is the stuffed raccoon he’s carrying like it’s a major trophy. Absolute scenes, and somehow it feels very on brand for him at this point

Looks like he had a proper time in the States and came home with the weirdest souvenir possible. Can’t decide if this is elite banter or just full on unhinged, but either way it’s brilliant

Also, fair play to anyone trying to explain that photo to someone who doesn’t follow football, because it genuinely looks like a man returning from war with a cursed mascot

Nah I dont think its just random nonsense, he clearly knew exactly how funny this would look and thats why its so good, people acting like he stumbled into it are missing the point

I had a mate come back from a lads holiday with the most random stuff ever, one time he turned up at the pub with a tiny plastic cowboy hat, a bottle opener shaped like a boot and some cursed stuffed animal he swore was a bargain from a tourist shop, and everyone just lost it because he was carrying it like it was a newborn, this Haaland picture gives me the exact same energy, just a man fully committed to bringing back the stupidest souvenir possible and somehow making it look iconic at the same time

It is funny because it feels so casual and unbothered. He seems like the sort of player who would fully commit to a bizarre souvenir and then act like it is the most normal thing in the world.

I’m actually going to defend him here because if you go somewhere and find something funny or ugly or completely stupid in the best way then why shouldnt you buy it and take it home, that is the whole point of souvenirs and half the fun of travel is bringing back something that makes everyone else ask what on earth is that, and in this case it is a stuffed raccoon which is even better because it is so absurd it becomes brilliant, people are acting like he should have bought something tasteful and classy but this is way more memorable and honestly better than another boring mug or shirt

This is exactly the kind of thing that makes footballers feel like proper weird lads instead of polished robots because who is looking at that in a shop and thinking yeah that belongs in my suitcase and then actually carries it through an airport like it is the most important item in the world, absolutely unreal behaviour and I respect it because football needs more nonsense like this instead of everyone trying to be some bland brand manager with a filtered life and a beige personality

he looks like he bought it on a whim and then got weirdly attached to it on the flight home and now no ones allowed to touch it which makes it even funnier

The best bit is how it feels like he has just spent the whole trip doing nothing but buying random tat and then this is the one item he actually committed to bringing back, absolute tactical masterclass in souvenir selection

It is a perfect example of why some players become cult heroes even outside their performances. The image is silly, but it also makes him seem more human and less polished than the usual football superstar.
